Effect of prophylaxis agents on the shear bond strength of a fissure sealant.

چکیده
However, the best method for cleaning the pits and fissures has not been agreed upon. Taylor and Gwinnett3, Garcia-Godoy and Gwinnett4,5, and GardaGodoy and Medlock6 showed that pumice particles become lodged in the fissures and are not removed after rinsing with a stream of water. Main et al. 7 demonstrated that the acquired pellicle is removed completely by standard acid-etching and Donnan and Ball 8 concluded that sealant retention was not significantly different with or without a previous pumice prophylaxis before etching. Although the pumice prophylaxis does not seem necessary for the complete retention of fissure sealants, in some cases of poor oral hygiene a prophylaxis is appropriate. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of different prophylaxis methods on the shear bond strength of a fissure sealant.

Effect of chlorhexidine solution on microleakage of pit and fissure sealants in permanent teeth with and without the use of fifth- and sixth-generation adhesive systems
Introduction: Due to concerns about histological caries and recurrent caries after the use of sealants, adhesive systems containing fluoride and antibacterial agents have been proposed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the microleakage of sealants after the use of antibacterial chlorhexidine solution on etched enamel with and without the use of fifth- and sixth-generation adhesive systems....

Background and Aim: Since the clinical studies conducted to explore the effect of bonding agents on the success of fissure sealant are limited in number, the present study was conducted to compare the effects of two bonding agents on the success of fissure sealant of the saliva- contaminated teeth. Materials and Methods: In this study, 63 teeth of 35 students aged 6-8 with healthy and newly-er...

In recent years, resin-based fluoridated sealants have been introduced, the fluoride intended as a cariespreventive ingredient. Studies of prophylaxis pastes containing glycerine or fluoride that attribute poor retention to an impervious layer produced by the fluoride and other ingredients 1, 2 have been discounted by Bogert and Garcia-Godoy3 and Koch et al. 4 using newer generations of bonding...
